or seventeen years, I've been desiging and building custom stone fireplaces. Although most of my work has been in the Adirondacks, I am currently expanding my reach to include some building and consulting work nationwide.

It's not always easy to find someone to build a traditional stone fireplace anymore, And it can be even harder to find someone able to help you define and create YOUR ideal fireplace. I enjoy working alongside owners and other masons to help create a fireplace that is unique and distinctive for your home.

I've developed a style that is constantly evolving with each new project. Most of my materials are found on the jobsite, bringing an extra element of continuity to the project. I use firebrick for my fireboxes, no inserts or Zero clearance contraptions here! I like solid stone, not thin veneer. With thick stones come deep joints and varied stone sizes. Tall firebox openings, influenced by the Rumford-Style, allow the full flames to be viewed. Curved fireboxes eliminate the deep back corners of the traditional rectangular firebox, bringing the fire forward visually, creating a more outdoor feel.

My best fireplaces reflect not only my own ideas, but the input of the owners as well.

These fireplaces are the real deal...They take time to build and often outlast the "superfluous" structure around them. Let's face it, a house's only real purpose is to keep you dry while you watch your fireplace burn.
